What do you really think of insurance?

We reached out and asked small business owners like you what they really thought about insurance. Our research showed that most people find the industry out dated and the documentation unclear, well we want to change all of that.

What do you really think about insurance? Good or bad!

  • Easiest product in the world to buy is a insurance policy.
Hardest thing in the world to get to pay out is an insurance policy.
Look at PPI as the industry changed that much?
    Loaded one way.
You might be the exception to the rule if I need to claim I will then know.

  • Insurance is legalised theft; you buy a policy to cover in the unfortunate event of an accident and the insurers jump through fire not to pay.

  • one existing policy through an internet company, and I haggle every year and get the price down after about two or three calls. complete waste of my time and money. Another insurance policy with a broker. The price I get quoted is the lowest price and that's what I pay. Which one gets more of my business?

  • Don't think that's true in all cases..... I've had a 3 claims on my Directline home insurance and they've been excellent, paying new for old replacement and even fitting me a new garage door the following day..... not bad as the old one was really battered. As with most things, you get what you pay for............ you pick the cheapest possible premium and then when you need to make a claim, you find out why they're so cheap.
It really is worth reading through the small print with policies and then you can make sure you are able to meet the conditions for insuring your items and any subsequent claims.

  • PRO Supplier

Home insurance doesn't seem as bad as business insurance. I've only had bad experiences with business insurance, failing to pay out on a lightning strike, machinery theft and vehicle fire.

  • Thanks for all of your replies so far. Sounds like there is a very mixed view of insurance in the landscaping industry.

  • It's a joke we were Brocken into work tools stolen it took 2 months for the insurance to pay out how the hell our you suppose to work short of tools if you hire them your cost go up and you can't pass it onto the customer. The insurance company took 7weeks to inform me as to what was happening and once they told me the amount and how it was to paid I could go out and replace the equipment knowing I would get the money to pay for it. I felt the service was very shoddy
  • Thanks Andy; I'm sorry to hear of your story as I imagine it must be a complete pain when waiting to have something like your tools replaced. Hopefully you wont be subject to a long process like this again if you do have a claim.

  • Thanks Jim; your right there is a lot of bad feeling towards the industry as a whole. Hopefully as insurers like ourselves modernise their principles this will get better.
