  • Hi Robin

Don't let the dark get in our way as we have a new fangled "elect-trit-ecal" thing where we live. Flick a switch and "voila" its not dark any more.

    Sorry could not resist.
  • I use night time for paperwork and research on things that have caught my eye and make up exta time if needed on saturdays. Also try and start as early as pos.
  • We use the dark time to put our feet up, which makes a nice change from the spring-summer when we're putting in 14-16hr days!
  • I relax and take it easy 8 till about half four
  • Hi Robin

Work wise - as the others say shorter days and time to start collecting things together from about 3:30p.m. onwards in mid winter, or when the ground starts to re freeze on really cold days. Rooks coming back to roost is useful reminder it's time to go home.

Home wise - if, like me, you are feeling a bit sluggish with the darker nights get a 'light box' and sit it somewhere close to you each evening. Soon you will be feeling spring like again and come up with all sorts of plans and ideas to keep your evenings productive!

( Had thought of getting a powerful head torch to extend the day but decided that this was just silly)
  • Point taken sir!

Dont be put off by the head torch idea, It can be very usefull....... I always have one in the van along with a maglite....... whilst I wouldnt normaly work via torch light it can be usefull when packing up or for emergency breakdowns etc.

I worked till 6.05pm on Friday felling a tree in a back garden in Market Overton. The client had 3 floodlights one in alley one on front drive and one on rear patio which can on when triggered by movement. I once did a job in London in the winter felling a tree which was 90 ft tall. Finished loading the loppings and trunks at 11.45pm at night then had a 1.5 hr drive back up to Leicester. Thats what I call working hard.
