Got home today to find a cheque from Simply Business for my stolen tools. It's not a new-for-old policy, but I think the settlement is very reasonable, and at least goes some way to replacement costs.

I can't believe how fast they've dealt with this. From me sending in the receipts and claim form, I think it's only 2 weeks to deal with the whole thing.

I found them through LJN, so happy to give them a public thank-you here. Insurance isn't about the price you pay up-front, but the way it works when something goes wrong!

    I'm going to change to them when mine runs out great stuff
    What's the criteria i presume you have to make a inventory of equipment and value ???

    Yep. All they needed was the crime reference, and a list of the items and purchase price, along with copies of all the receipts.

    They ask for condition, and base the value on age as well. I didn't even have the receipt for my saw, as it was over ten years old, but got a small amount for it. The mower, brand new, was full price, and the total I thought pretty well-estimated.
