  • I've seen some oil patches from leaky old cars disappear in time. Just need a little patience. A bit of petrol probably wont show after too long.

    Soda ash works brilliantly on brick. (recently had a leak and had to clean off of a clients drive) No idea about tarmac though.

  • Oil is easier to manage and oil cleaners are available.

    The petrol spilled however, will have disolved some of the bitumen and will never be the same again. if you look at it the area will appear coarser than the rest.

    It will blend in after a while but the damage is permenant. If its very bad your only choice is to remove and patch repair.

    Kiln dried sand is the best thing to absorb any residue and will also help fill in some of the gaps and disguise it.
