Fuel problem, could be drawing too much or too little air and the regulator spring may be stretched a little
Neil will be able to help more
Mine did the same recently on tick over so scoured the net for advise .
Some people said to take the carb to bits and others talked of using a carb cleaning additive to the fuel.
I tried the latter using an STP cleaning additive to the fuel and that seemed to cure the problem over a couple of days of fairly hard work. Some talk of varnish build up causing the problem and thought this was a lot easier than stripping the carb .
I would try this first anyway if i was you,as any damaged or lost bits in a strip down is a major headache in busy times like now
Hope this helps

hi david
try just easing the throttle leaver back a little more (this should ensure the choke valve is then opend up properly),
before going into more depth always look for the simplest thing, which in this case sound's like a stretched cable which could be chokeing the engine, i have a old phb which i have borrowd from work to look over (i meen cut my lawn) and this is in need of a new cable as it hunts like mad untill i ease of the throttle a little.
if this dose nothing then i would be looking at plug then to the reg spring being stretched
also just take the air filter off whill idleing and make sure the butterfly valve is not jamming closed for the choke
