Landscape Juice Network to feature on BBC and C4 national news tomorrow evening (5 April)

Some excellent news.

It's been a very busy week in LJN towers and I'm pleased to say, unless there is a major news item to overtake tomorrow's events, that Landscape Juice's hosepipe exemption campaign will be one of the headline news items on either BBC 6 or 10 O'Clock national news (possibly even both) and C4 News (7.00pm) tomorrow evening.

All of our collective hard work is really starting to pay off. The BBC tell me that around 8 million people watch the 6 O'Clock news.

Filming for the BBC news item took place today in a garden at Hindhead with LJN member Ben Lannoy and tomorrow's C4 filming will take place (fingers crossed) with Caro Sanders at a garden she's just completed in Ealing.

Both the BBC and C4 picked up on our extensive coverage of the hosepipe ban and our petition.

Both also told me that the threat to professional landscapers and gardeners is an angle that hasn't been part of the national debate until now.

Thanks Gaynor, it is a scary prospect that we could be facing this in the coming months and possibly as a pattern for years to come too. It's amazing what can be done when people get together. Let's hope it's not all in vain! Looking forward to seeing how Caro got on too. Best regards, Ben

I echo what you say Jenny..we shouldn't give up though to keep our voices being heard. Even though I live in Wales and there is no ban YET (!!) I am willing to join in and keep up the pressure!

Well done Ben and Caro! Well done Phil and everyone on Landscape Juice Network who has supported this campaign! And well done Hew (new member from Shoots & Leaves who was on the London local news yesterday). We can't claim victory as the water companies seem resolute, but at least we got our voices heard - and on two national news channels too!

I really hope our businesses don't suffer too badly in the coming months... but if they are already talking about the ban being extended until well into the autumn and possibly into 2013, it's pretty scary.

Landscape Juice Network on national TV - awesome!

Many thanks again to Phil for all his time, support and dedication to this issue.

Ben and Caro did as proud - the news progarmmes were bound to edit the interviews as it's such a huge subject, conveying the seriousness of the drought, rivers, ecology, supply, leakages, do's and don'ts to the public etc. It's a real achievement that we got our voices heard via LJN on two national TV news programmes.

I hope we all continue to support each other and share information as we have have in the last 3 weeks of this campaign. The collective power of the Juice!

Well done Phil.

You've given a voice and exposure to the small guy.

That's the true measure of success for LJN.

Well done!

Why the hell are fish more important than plants that produce oxygen ???

Reminds me of a story about some poor sod being blown up by the IRA  - but alls well that ends well... his labrador survived!

Sorry this is Britain we are talking about... everything is less important than animals, though I do agree that it is all very inconsistant... ie cars more important than plants?

Congrats to Caro... shame the general news story was not more serious "I will use a jug as an example to fill the paddling pool" Who gives two hoots about paddling pools when people's livelihoods are at stack?

Has the greenhouse effect been forgotten already, and has the importance of locking up

carbon in growing trees and shrubs..... been fed to the goldfish ?

well done to every one involved

Well done for getting the message out there

Both interviews, brief as they were, were aired which was a result.  Congratulations to Jenny and Phil for all their very hard work.  The battle has only just begun but it is a beginning.

I agree - the fact that our point of view was aired on national news on 2 channels will raise awareness - and show the water companies and the 'greenest govenerment ever' that we have some 'elbow'

who has local elections coming up? a chance for lobbying - and being public there - the London mayoral sometimes gets national coverage - can we do soemthing there?

in the meantime, lets keep working together, our unity shows that we care, not just about our own businesses, but about the wider environemnt too

now theres another thought - wildlife trusts, NT etc - can we do some combined noise?

well done shows we as a group have a voice
