Hort Week Subscriptions

It seems to be that time of the year for subscription renewals as today we received our Hort Week renewal invoice.

It seemed a lot of money so I started to dig deeper and got a surprise over the different pricing levels depending on where/how you respond, for instance;

Renewal invoice - 1Yr = £95, 2Yr = £171 - any method of payment

Renewal link from weekly Hort Week email - ongoing yearly DD = £56.50, 1Yr Credit card = £66.50

Renewal via website - ongoing yearly DD = £81, 1Yr Credit card = £95, 2Yr Credit card = £171.

I have never seen such multi-level pricing. Clearly 'loyalty' does not pay (unless I have totally misunderstood....)

Anyone else still subscribe to this journal...? Be interested to know your rate ....

Might just have to rely on the weekly email extract free of charge !

    Being a tight wad northerner I just rely on the weekly e-mail myself.

    I am fed up with Hortweek and I will not be renewing my subscription when it expires this month.

    Interesting topic...something I follow closely too. The last audited figures showed that Hort Week's paying subscribers fell by 10% (I sent me figures to HW and asked for a comment, the figures were not challenged and no comment so I assume that the numbers were fairly accurate).

    During the postal strike I reported that (although I didn't realise it was because of the strike at the time) HW was available online for free.

    I am re-considering our subscription. In one way I feel 'slightly cheated' by the pricing model, but at it's lowest rate of £56.50 it just over a £1 a week. However, we are reading more online now so the chance of a lower online subscription (when available) might save me as reader.

    I note the model used by Pitchcare - A price for the physical mag delivered by post, a much lower price for an online version viewed in your browser or downloaded as a PDF. I believe you can get both together at much discounted rate.

    With online resources it so useful to be able cut& paste information, archive it as needed - for personal use only of course.....
