Comfrey Root Ointment

Any body ever made comfrey root ointment?
3 hours double boiling in Olive oil and oil is much the same (with a touch of mushroom flavour perhaps) and the comfrey root looks the same as when it started. Before I move on to next stage would love someone to reassure me that some of the comfrey will have been taken up by the oil. I was expecting the root to break down at least a little.
