Suggest you email "Tracmaster" with your query......believe they're still the importers. Found them very helpful when I had a rotavator query.
Is it a safety cut out to prevent it overheating ?
I would also go down the alternator route.
We have a Lombardini engine on one of our chippers and the A in a circle on ours indicates alternator problems.
Same brand of engine in our Saelen Chipper / shredders and here's the page from the OP Guide (we had the manual out as some of my guys did a Lantra course last week). Highly likely to be same/similar Control Unit....
Looks like it is an Alternator/Charging/Battery issue.
do you have to jump start from another battery?
have you checked all fuses and relays?
another thing to check would be when the engine is running is the battery being charged or drained when running it could be a case of the alternator not charging properly and needs rebushing
tracmaster replied saying it was 'Air filter', so ive bought same external ring from my local supplier for £10. - thanks . good advice geoff :)

Interesting. Never knew Lombardini engine control boxes had mass air flow sensors built in to detect dirty air filters. Keep us informed if it clears the A indicator?
