  • Yes all the time hedgecutting is a killer.

    fairly regular

Live with it and alot of deep heat
  • i go to the chiropractor every six weeks and it helps
  • PRO
Sciatica for me. Normally after a good hard day digging / weeding.

Got a set of four simple excercises from an NHS physio that keep me on the straight and narrow most of the time.
  • I go to the Osteo every 6 weeks or so if I need it or not....and book in pretty damn quick if I pull something as it speeds the recovery up no end ;-)

I find if your really knackered then you tend to start working awkwardly and if still a bit stiff from some other work etc leaves you vulnerable..too much digging ain't good and digging out huge root balls from Laurel etc have given me trouble in the past..maybe because the red mist came down as it was such a monster to get out !!

Tiber balm hot baths with salts and brufen get me through if needed so far.
  • I go to the Chiropractor about every three months plus the odd emergency (Mondays visit being one of them). I find it is usually something really silly that does my back, not things like digging out roots all day.

I would recomend any who does have back problems to see either a chiro or oesteo. Can take a while to find one you're happy with though.
  • daft but true a lot of the time............................ excessive work can promote sciatica/ pulled muscles too though.

I never do except when I lie in bed to long on a weekend, what do I do about it ? : Get up !!!!
  • I've had sciatica this week too (right down my left cheek! bloody sore)- been stretching out again though and its going away now.
Never get back pain - always muscular if I get anything and nothing a good nights sleep doesn't get rid of.
  • So true Gary....I had a recurrent back problem when in my sedantary job and when doing a lot of driving. I find gardening helps my back problem and I never have any problems while I am active. If I stop, e.g. go on holiday and sit around for a few days then bang it comes right back. In winter I get it bad because I am not working much. I am finding now I get carpal tunnel syndrom and rotator cuff problems from using the machinery. I have started to try and reduce the time using petrol tools going back to the old shears and secateurs from time to time.

  • where do i start! scoliosis, arthritis at both top and base of spine. I do find it a pleasant change to NOT have backache!! But like has allready been said, sedentary jobs make it a lot worse. I was told i would be in a wheelchair by the time i was 40 . 35 now and still the same as when i was 17! except for the odd few wrinkles! Laughter lines!!!!!
Anyway, in answer to question, i dont do anything, just get on with it. Tried the lot, even acupuncture, to no effect. Though i'm sure it depends on the problem causing backache.
  • Sometimes muscle pain is symptom of the muscles working hard to compensate for a bone problem. The spine is fundermental to virtually all body functions, your whole bone structure hangs off it. Worth getting it looked at from time to time.
