Another plant ID please

I've done a search but can't seem to find/remember how to embed a photo from my ipad, sorry.Anyway, if you can see the pics, they look like hebe's but I'm not quite sure. The pic with the flower was taken about a month ago. They are getting out of hand and I need to do something with them.

Only uploaded one pic for some reason, here's the other
  • looks like hebe salicifolia. to be honest, quite hard to prune radically as its very slow to regrow and just sort of sulks or dies (in my experience). If you're going to try, do it in spring or it'll die over winter.

Totally agree with Doug that it is a Hebe of some sorts. As above wait until spring now if you are going to prune it back hard. Hard pruning hebes is some times successful if they have got fresh growth at the base, but often it's easier to start again.

Depends how patient the client is.....either hard prune in spring and it's got 2 chances, or rip out and re plant if it's that necessary to reduce it
  • Got exactly the same thing to deal with. Will cut it back hard enough to kill or cure in the spring.

  • It's Hebe parviflora, will take plenty of cutting, unlike some varieties of here which really sulk. I'd cut it back now, give it a good drink and let the Indian summer do the rest. Either that or wait until spring when the flowers will have finished. They have some really beautifully clipped ones here in Sussex at the Architectural plants nursery.
