Background

Robin Ainsworth (manager of gardens4u.co.uk) grew up and has lived in the countryside for 34 years. He was brought up in gardens using a petrol strimmer, lawn mower and ride-on mowers cutting grass from a very early age.

Before gaining his H.N.D at Humberside University he worked at Bridgemere garden nursery for the summer in the wholesale division, identifying and caring for many plants before distribution.

In 2003 He completed a year OCN course in garden-design, being taught by one of the top landscapers. designers, and garden maintenance contractors in Staffordshire.

In 2009 he completed his NPTC chainsaw certificates training and exams ( cs30 & cs31) in Llyn Brennig, near Bala, mid wales where he trained in the national forestry commission site. (taught by one of the world championship chainsaw winners – Philip Dunford)

In 2010 he completed his COSH certificates at the well known ‘reaseheath college’ in Nantwich, Cheshire. (chemicals and substances hazardous to health).

Other test completed are the on-line RHS (Royal horticultural society) Alan Tichmarsh test !

Since starting the business he has had an active interest in the horticultural world including attending many shows such as gardeners world at the NEC and IOG / SALTEX show at Windsor racecourse and visiting David Austin Roses.

Starting his business in Staffordshire initially, before moving back to his home town working around Market Drayton, he also still works in Staffordshire, Cheshire, Telford and has gained contracts and work in London.

Shropshire , telford & wrekin (where i live)

have a 'register' similar to LJN charter.

your local council might have one and its worth registering on it to get on the list.

old / vunerable or proper people use it to source 'reputable' tradesmen in our area.


maybe they will/could start one for ''customers to avoid '' lists by tradesmen ?

What does everyone think/expect will be the trend for 2009 in Gardening ?
More effort required? more hours? less overheads? / Less Landscaping than 2008 (is it possible)! - more green stuff? advice required please.God Bless

Hi re your query regarding site in London. Our commercial team tell me that we supplied Saxon paving buff, some textured edging in silver grey and and some conservation kerb again in silver grey. They can find nothing else that we provided to that site. Hope this helps
