Greetings all from the Fereday Haunted House - we're getting ready from Halloween..... as an American, I'm ever so pleased to have brought a wonderful tradition to our local neighbourhood... competing to have the best Halloween house... no contest...

This is interesting because it makes me see that I don't really work in a conversational business - everything is communicated via email - I get about 50 emails a day (lots of junk like newsletters from consultancies and the EU) and probably only ...

For me, it's how it plays with the general public - appreciate that everyone here gets it being about what MPs can claim, not what they can actually spend.... fair enough if they want to pay £100,000 a year, they're only going to get £1000 of it b...

I agree with u PG... its that cleaning a house is more necessary than spending money on the garden. I agree with this thinking however I dont like it as it gives us gardeners less importance only in terms of what MP's can reclaim and MP's cant mak...

Very much an amateur gardener (and not really professional about anything else) and married to the very lovely, long-suffering Fereday. On the site, I post about the "lighter" side of being married to a gardener - the gloves and shed obsessions, growing from seed foibles, etc. As of 5 Feb, I am also an official supporter of Phil's campaign against the Daily Mail - go Phil!!!!

One bed flat in Reading....

Greetings all from the Fereday Haunted House - we're getting ready from Halloween..... as an American, I'm ever so pleased to have brought a wonderful tradition to our local neighbourhood... competing to have the best Halloween house... no contest, really - the title is ours.... we've got fake spider webbing, really BIG furry spiders crawling up the wall - and because lighting is fundamental to establishing the mood - we have blue bulbs in the hall chandelier, a red bulb in the hall table lamp,… Continue

Brogues and antler hats for dogs....

It's been a good weekend. The weather has turned sufficiently cold to warrant camouflage clothing - gloves, scarves, jumpers, and shoes which don't require a wanton display of toe clevage or luridly painted toenails - perfect bliss....from here on in, it's roast chickens, hot soup, and happy days.

Still, the impending move to the South plays on my mind. Fereday, bless him, is bearing up, but I know it's tough. He's leaving behind a successful little business for the great unknown. Being practic… Continue

My new career path - puppy couture

Yawn - it's been another busy week in the life of the commuting tortoise (AKA me with backpack carapace nicknamed Mildred traversing the west coast line)... Tuesday night saw me somewhere south of Birmingham eating my evening meal in a bunker with work colleagues before hastening off into the night to hit London's Marylebone train station just before Wednesday morning.... having never been into Marylebone before, I found it a truly pleasant surprise. Everything was still open - and there is the… Continue

On a peaceful Saturday morning....

Fereday got a new toy delivered on Saturday morning.... a BlackBerry Bold. This is his second BlackBerry, so you might think the whole BlackBerry ownership thing would be a bit old hat by now, but you'd be wrong. My sister calls them 'CrackBerries' because they're so addictive. And I think I can follow the argument that there will eventually evolve a race of pointy-thumbed, squinty people which has its genetic source in the current group of BlackBerry owners.

Anyway, it was a very quiet Saturda… Continue

Yes, the picture of me in the hat is rather good isn't it? Taken by a professional, but not a professional photographer...

My eleven year old son, Henry, was very concerned that I am a member of a 'chat room'. Took a tour of the site and talked him though all the blogs, forums and idle chat. After reading your and Fereday's contributions, he wants to sign up!

Has your 'Mr Fereday' locked you up or did the rabbits get you? Want to read what you write!

Thank you Cat!
Your comment will really piss my husband off. He's a photographer (sports though, for the national newspapers)!

Fereday would be brilliant with all your careful training. Sadly, the newspapers don't even pay for a wire man or expenses anymore! Another dying industry.
