Shredders

Faced with a very large pile of perennial cuttings and now very wet, I am wondering if a decent petrol shredder might be the answer ? Does anyone out there have one they use for the 'softer' type of green rubbish. I'm impatient so would want one that is quick and doesn't get bunged up all the time !Hope you can share your experiences.Richard

    Hi,

take a look at this thread from late last year http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/advice-needed-bef... and also search on 'chipper/shredders'

There have been some good discussions on pros & cons on how to approach and makes etc
  • Many thanks - think I will hire one I can afford to buy, that way I won't be disappointed.

    Hi,

    That's a sensible idea.

A few Hire Centre have Eliet Shredders - try the Pro version with the Honda 9HP engine. Small, compact with no 'sticky out bits' and fits in most small/medium vans. It worked for us for a long time util we got towable chipper/shredders. It has 3 point reversible blades and belt drive so protects the engine in case you get too enthusiastic in feeding it. Will take 2-3" branches and green waste with relative ease.

Again, it's like mowers - ask and you'll get a wide and varied response, but as always I suggest you focus on machines that have available support locally (ie dealers) if you plan to use commercially.
