Hi Phil,
Most self-store units have restrictions on fuel storage, so all gear would have to be run dry every time you store it. Possibly a pain, and worth considering if you're using machines daily.
10f x 10f, 100f2 is no space really Phil. Do you have a garden big enough build a large shed or garage ?.
A 4M X4m shed / workshop would give you a lot more space and once its built, its paid for:-).
Hi Phil,
I am currently in exactly the same situation my self and am looking for more space. I built a 5m x 3m (150ft2 ish??) concrete shed in my garden last year but have already found it too small + I am terranced so have to take everything about 20m from my van (if I can park) to the shed.
I just missed a double garage for rent 2 mins from my house for £100pm (bristol) and am keeping a close eye on gumtree for something similarly close to come up, maybe check out their listings and I dont thing there are many restrictions on what you can do with them..
£140 a month- £1680 a year. x3? + get a loan and build your own?

We recently moved 90% of our stuff into a shipping container at a self-store place. No fuel storage restrictions (so long as it wasn't stolen goods or dead bodies, they didn't care), 24/7 access no problem, 1min drive, £300pm.
If it's a unit within the building, you'll have fuel storage restrictions, time wasted going back and forth between van and unit (which may be on 1st floor or higher), you have to pay extra at Big Yellow to access your stuff outside of 'work hours'.
Had a couple of miscreants hop over our back fence at 3am last month looking for stuff to nick, but the neighbour scared them off. They must have seen us to-in and fro-ing in the garden and garage, neither of which is secure enough. So I now put everything in the container, and I managed to re-insure everything to be covered in storage, on site and in transit.
I already have double garage and shed.
Help.
