I don't and I don't...? plenty to do all year..in fact rainy days are the only holiday I get
Diversify.
Fruit trees, hedge cutting if weather allows, mulching beds, winter bed clearance, drop the odd tree and clear wind blow, Logs, service customers mower, leaf clearance, clear gutters, prune roses, bulb planting, lift non hardy plants, remove any unwanted shrubs, reove netting from fruit cages, snow clearance, prepare veg beds, bit of fencing, service all my own kit etc etc etc
I go the other way, and work flat-out when there's things needing doing, and the weather's nice. I'd rather take time off in winter, so don't take time off when it's beautiful outside!
The other thing is to have most of your work on monthly payments. Then, you get pretty much a steady income all year round. Again, the work is mostly in the busy spring and autumn, so you can't slack on the regular customers then, but it's nicer not to have to work the winter if you don't have to, and any extra work you choose to do is a bonus.
