Future of weed control?

Pesticide use and Integrated Pest Management are hot topics, so its with interest I came across this research from the USA on trials into weed control using grit through high pressure jets.

The grit is actually cone shaped pieces of corn cob propelled at 100lb/psi:

    What ever happened to 'Hot Foam' weedkilling method shown at SALTEX a few years ago??

    Was supposed to be non-toxic and ideally suited to open areas / kerbs / paving / banks etc ?

    Still ongoing Gary, they are in year 3 of a trial in Kent using as part of an integrated programme of weedcontrol on hard surfaces. Defra funded with partners from Kent CC, East Malling Research and the EA.
