designs & costs

Hi all,

Im just wondering how many people charge for doing full designs or do you all do it in the hope of getting the job. Ive invested a fair bit in my software package & at this point i think I need to start charging for the work that goes into it which lets face it, is a fair bit. Full consulation, could be 1 1/2 - 2 hrs, then measure up, alot of thinking, drawing the design & then presenting it. Obviously if i went down the road of charging, the cost would come off price off job.

any thoughts?

    It's up to you. We charge for our design service. It starts at £200 for basic drawings and can increase to how ever much they want to spend. The cost isn't reduced from the bill either. The most I will.do for free is a quick outline plan in sketch up if people can't quite envisage what they want. But this takes 20 mins max.

    My partner does the designs, and typically charges well over a £1000 just for;
    Site survey
    Sketch Plan & consultation
    Master Plan
    Maybe construction drawings
    Planting Plan & consultation

    This cost is not deducted from the design construction

    should be £200 min what about planting plans? £500 if detailed/ thought/materials/measuring to scale etc etc.

    lots of mental work for design and planing / access etc etc

    Why knock it off the construction price? madness ! its a service and a pro- one at that.

    not just anyone is trained / educated as a garden-designer.

    i dedicated a year of my life 3hrs a week evening class to do my ocn design in gardening and had to stop work some days to get there for 6?pm...

    that was avery comprehensive course by a pro in everything garden related for many years.
    i learned alot and did coursework (despite it being a basic course in the scheme of degrees/masters)
