    Yes, there should be a fixing bolt that comes from below (hidden by the chrome cover plate and gearbox housing cover - ie you can't see the bolt) into that hole, leaving about 6mm of thread showing.

    Near to that is the Torx greasing bolt.

    If you can see deep into threaded hole, then bolt is loose/missing, but then you would have grease ouzing out.

  • Cheers. Now next question. Stihl state that my km90r carb won't need adjusting. Have you found this to be true? I need to know whether to buy a 4mm hex driver :-)

    Mine seems to have a slight misfire at full revs like a rev limiter

    That's most likely the rev limiter.

    We've never had the need to adjust, but could be possible at some point (but we've access to a good Stihl Tech with a little priority service :-).....

  • That's not the hole that I meant. Mine is next to the other grease point on the pivot of the gearbox.

    Is this the one ? If so, ours has Allen headed grub screw (again with about 6 mm of thread showing). Suggest it locks in part of the gearbox pinion
