basic requirements for commercial work.

Perhaps some guys can help.I already do lots of commercial work .I'm currently updating and putting together a file as such of basic requirements such as public liability insurance ,waste licence etc.so as to have easy access to when asked for. What other requirements have you been asked for and what do you keep ?I'm thinking more along the lines of requiremens when tendering for work.Is there any companies that could help out with this to put together a file and suggest the appropriate accreditations to go for ??

  • UTR number - some places ask for it.
Another wanted to see maintenance schedules for my machines!

    Hi Paul

Health and safety and risk assessment(s) are fundamental. Certainly a spraying certificate if you will be carrying out weed control. Perhaps a copy of your driving license (essential if working on military establishments and many commercial sites).

Then, of course, any operating certificates specific to your activities.

  • Hey Matt!
Just being cheeky but you haven't got a maintenance schedule template or something like that I could beg, borrow or steal off you have you?? ;-)
Don't worry you don't have to but it would be handy.

I've got all stihl equipment and get them serviced every year and get blades sharpened on all mowers about 4 or 5 times a year and change oil etc so I do actually carry out a lot of maintenance but I never write it all down. Never though about it really.

  • Most of it is in the back of your handbooks for each machine
  • All the commercial work I do has only required:

    Insurance certificate
    Schedule / specification of works
    Standard terms
    Contract agreement.

I've never been asked for maintenance schedules, spraying sheets etc. If you work for local authorities you're more likely to be asked for that, but if it's property management, other private firms, they wouldn't tend to want to spend time and money chasing that stuff.
