We carried out a little experiment on a recent paving job we did.
How much material can we retain on site by recycling the digout that would have otherwise been removed from the site.
We used an Avant Loader as the screening bucket carrier as we wanted to move the waste around the site, otherwise an excavator could have done an equally good job.
Due to the size of the site we used an Red Rhino 4000 series concrete crusher to process the tarmac, concrete, brick, rubble and stone that we reclaimed using the screening bucket. The 5000 series Red Rhino crusher would have processed the material quicker but would have made the site very tight for vehicle movements.
The area was 210m2 and we managed to retain 42m3 of material on site for the preparation of the new drives base. This is quite a substantial saving in both waste away by grab lorry and buying in new processed material and the associated taxes.
