This is my first attempt at a timelapse video. This was an amaryllis opening over a period of a few weeks in February. I was eight and half months pregnant at the time, so I suppose it was quite poetic in a way.
Good Times; Things I did right:
Bought a funny little remote control gadget from a Canadian website to programme my camera to take a photo every few seconds
Set up tripod and camera in a little studio station in the corner of our living room
I kind of like the amateurish feel to it - not too posed. And the flower filling up more than the frame. Even the jerkiness I quite like in a way. But really not very pro
It’s a little bit grotesque somehow. But sort of fascinating at the same time
Some nice macro action
Bad Times; Things I did wrong:
Had to use a flash - as it was Feb and quite dark inside. The battery kept running out in the night. So there are some gaps making the jerky bits
Frightened lots of visitors (and the husb and dog) by annoying flash suddenly going off very regularly during evenings of merriment
White background. A bit boring
The time scheduling was way too regular (every 80 seconds). So I ended up with over 4000 frames and had to can half of them
Next time I think something more natural over a longer period of time
Cool though. Will try something else soon

Aw thanks Philip. I plan to make some pretty drastic improvements for my next one!

Bigyin - haha - I do need to buy a new power supply - think I'll have to cough up myself for that one. Re number of frames - not sure yet. Am still in experimental phase really

Good attempt !! Have you worked out the minimum number of frames you could get away with for a sequence of that length ? At 40 secs and 25fps, that's 1,000. I don't know what the minimum fps for acceptable results would be. Have you asked hubby for a power supply for the camera for your birthday ? :-)
