"Hi. I am not in your area but the best grass for your problem area is the Wonderlawn performance. This is a FIFA approved product and is ideal for heavy use areas where pets are exercised. If you need more info let me know. Graham"

About your business
I have been passionate about plants and gardens for longer than I can remember and after studying art and design at Norwich Art College it was a natural progression to combine the two interests.
I worked for three years as plants woman rising to assistant manager at a local garden centre and since leaving have developed my own business designing, building and maintaining gardens. I have won two Silver medals at Sandringham flower show presented to me by Chris Beardshaw and Alan Mason.

Pergolas and Quiet

Posted on April 30, 2011 at 9:00 0 Comments

After on of the many flower and garden shows I attended in 2010 I was contacted by a customer who needed some help to create a peaceful haven in their urban garden.

The garden was very long but also narrow with a horrible wire mesh fence, the only thing between them and their neighbours.

The brief was to create a space that they could feel comfortable in on the few days off that they have and also Sue said a 'pond to play in' for Colin.

The couple were getting married so… Continue

New products and finished gardens

Posted on April 1, 2011 at 21:21 0 Comments

Well what a couple of weeks its been, I have just finished my latest design and build commission and developed a gorgeous new product at the same time.

The client brief was to design a low maintenance garden for their newly acquired holiday home. The converted barn is to be let out part time to paying guests and needed to be given a new lease of life.

It started out as a blank canvas and was open to the elements with a strong wind coming off the fields from behind and the…

Colour blind design

Posted on August 14, 2010 at 14:10 0 Comments

After writing a post for my blog on colour in planting schemes it seemed a natural progression to write advice on how to design for someone who is colour blind.

If you are colour blind yourself then you will already know from experience what looks good and what doesn't but for those of us who aren't then it can be difficult to picture your world.

Colour blindness affects around 1-20 men and around 1-200 women according to the BBC Health website.

The question of Sustainability

Posted on June 10, 2010 at 20:00 7 Comments

I know its the year of bio-diversity but the question of Sustainability has been nagging at me recently and with articles on Landscape juice such as the 'acute oak decline disease' and the recent forum post on permeable paving I thought I would investigate my thoughts further.

I have just completed a project using new oak sleepers, this is what started it all, until this time I believed oak to be a sustainable resource but the article on the oak disease has made me rethink this notion. An… Continue

Gardening for your health

Posted on December 19, 2009 at 18:26 0 Comments

It is well documented that gardening can help you improve your health in many different ways, but this has been brought home to me more than ever this week.

One of my customers has, earlier this year, been diagnosed with alzheimers. This terrible condition causes the sufferer to loose their memory she often becomes confused and is very withdrawn. When I visit the carers warn me not to expect much as she is having a bad day.

Very often though I find that after a brief pause she… Continue

Hi Shadow, I'm just starting out and finding it very difficult to get any work at all. I've only got one client and I'm waiting for them to clear the site before I do the survey. I took tables at several local events this year, and these people saw me twice before they spoke to me. I think perhaps people have to see you / your advertising several times before they start to feel comfortable? I have finally managed to secure an ad in the local Parish Magazine, so perhaps next year will be better.

I have had several other enquiries, but once you start to talk money they go pale. People don't want to pay for the design and they think they can landscape an empty space for £300! I tried giving designs away just to get started but found that the 'client' doesn't take it seriously when there's no money involved! LIke you, I'm hoping it picks up in the spring.

Hi Shadow

You and I are like two passing ships in the night, it's great to see your enthusiasm and hard work on and off the web, of which I fully appreciate and respect.

Keep up the good work
