  • Hi Jeffery

I too placed my fresh website up on LJ for feedback a couple of months ago, for me, I welcomed all remarks, how else can one learn! The response was fantastic, I took heed of the majority as it was honest feedback.

Ive noted that youve used an 0191 telephone in your profile, but use a mobile for your website.
Could'nt find an address either, show your own projects as quickly as possible, all the projects that you advertise your services for. It will put a client at ease, knowing that what they see is you.
Perhaps ask half a dozen clients to write a testimony for you, which could be used on your site..............

    The concept is great

The site looks clean and tidy, with no clashing colours or difficult to read text.

My only worry is the rather strange file name technique being used in the URL of individual pages, for example:

    http://www.landscape-gardeners-north-east.co.uk/landscaping/landsca...

    and

    http://www.landscape-gardeners-north-east.co.uk/garden-maintenance/...

I think it is most probably being done to try and hook into keywords, but I have a suspicion it might be seen by search engines as an attempt to stuff keywords into a URL.

Also in this format it is not very easy for people to send individual pages on to friends, there is a good chance the URL will end up being chopped up in emails or prove difficult to feature in places like Facebook etc.

    Hope this helps,
    Craig
  • It looks nice.

It took me less than 30 seconds to notice the AAA compliance logo and work out the site is not. It does not even meet the most basic requirements for compliance. Not a biggee, most people are unaware of the requirements, however if someone is aware and checks, like myself it would immediately raise questions of integrity. It is added purely to increase the chances of increasing rank in search engines.

The links page was interesting, a good use of maximising the website builders businesses and the businesses of their other clients. Personally I would not look at a landscaping website to find baby products but hey hoe.

The use of every page to allow users to link to your site through a variety of social networking sites is a bit of an overkill, in my opinion, and makes the pages repetitive, the home page really should be adequate enough.

What does surprise me is that having gone to so much trouble trying to raise your standing in search engines the one thing that would have really brought in visitors has been missed on.

landscape gardeners north east - this is something you might put into a search engine to find something, and again is a stunt to improve listing rating. Your in a business where word of mouth is one of the most effective forms of advertising, you want a website name that is easy for customers to remember - like www.acreslandscapers.co.uk

The problem with designing websites like this to maximise search site listings is that they are aware this sort of thing happens. It can result in your site being penalised, and lowered in the ratings. Even if successful it may put you at the top today, but when they next change their criterial you may well dissapear again.

If all you are interested in is the ranking on search engines then good luck. Your just starting out and it will take time. As I said in general it looks okay.

Cordless hedge cutter

Looking for cordless hedge cutter with the motor at the battery/handle end and telescopic . Find the ones with the motor at the blade end unbalanced, and before anyone says it - no the battery does not counter balance it well.  Not bothered on brand.
