This year we have experienced monumental changes in weather conditions all within very short time periods. We have been through hose pipe bans, to torrential flooding, to record highs in temperature and are constantly being told ‘get used to it’ because we are in times where climate swings will be the norm. In the construction market projects must go on despite the challenges of our weather and products being used and applied need to be able not only to cope, but excel, and provide longevity in service.
When it comes to urban landscaping it is essential, that where aesthetics, performance, durability and longevity are the basic requirements, that products with a proven track record are used. Products which can be relied on to perform in whatever conditions prevail.
Ultrascape’s renowned mortar paving system is a range of bedding, priming and jointing products which offer that reliability, and are supported by an impressive list of major contracts. The system consists of Pro-Bed HS bedding mortar, Pro-Prime slurry primer and Flowpoint grout.
All these products have been independently tested under UKAS conditions and are shown to excel in performance to BS 7533. As a cured system they are able to cope with all weather extremes and are exceptionally tolerable to surface and ground moisture. In application they will perform to a long life expectancy.
The longevity of this system and its reliability in performance, reduces the need for maintenance and associated costs. The disruption that can be caused by constant repairs to landscaped areas of towns and town centres can be lessened.
Jon Akers Coyle, an Associate with Gillespies, supports the importance of this:
“Whilst we are experiencing challenging economic times, we must not lose sight of the long term vision: to renew our cities and prepare them for an increasingly demanding future.” He goes on further to explain: “It is important to establish solid foundations for the future and maintain quality, as any loss of standards now will impact on both design and construction activities in the future.”
