Ultrascape Flowpoint, rapid set flowable grout, has been used to install a new roundabout in Stavanger, Norway.

Stavanger, a small and intimate city located on the south western coast of Norway, has recently installed a roundabout to ease traffic congestion and make crossings safer for pedestrians.

Named ‘European Capital of Culture’ in 2008, Stavanger is a harbour city and attracts many tourists every year – all the more reason to install a new roundabout to help ease the additional traffic.

The roundabout was designed and built in a nearby factory and was transported to site once the structure had been completed.

Betomur AS, Instarmac’s Norwegian distributor of Ultrascape’s mortar paving system, supplied the contractor with Flowpoint which was used to fill  the joints of the roundabout.

Flowpoint is a rapid set flowable paving grout, which has been independently tested to meet the strict requirements of public realm paving schemes and is suitable for most paving types including sandstone, limestone and granite. It is fast and efficient to apply and can accommodate joint widths of 5-50mm and joint depths of up to 200mm in a single pass.

Due to its fast setting capabilities, Flowpoint can be opened to pedestrian traffic after 1 hour and vehicular traffic after 4 hours; making it ideal for busy areas where disruption needs to be kept to a minimum.
