Marshalls Register - What's that all about?

Hi there for those who don’t know me, I’m Dave Jessop, Operations Manager for The Marshalls Register. In light of Marshalls attending the Creating Landscapes show in a couple of weeks I thought I’d pull together some background information regarding the Marshalls Register that may help some contractors gain a better understanding of the benefits.

Marshalls Register is a national network of landscape contractors and driveway installers that have been vetted by Marshalls to ensure the highest standards of workmanship are maintained.

Members can be benefit from a range of targeted support services including:

·     Marshalls approved status

·     A members only web-portal where a range of templates, images, product offers and information can be downloaded

·     A very attractive scheme which will allow you to claim a vast array of rewards based on your Marshalls purchases

·     Bespoke Marshalls brochures containing your contact details

·     Tremendous branded collateral to help you win more business at the margins you want

·     Experienced and knowledgeable field support from the most proffesional team in the industry

All for less than the price of your daily bacon butty!

You can apply to join or request a visit from one of the team by visiting

www.marshalls.co.uk/register

Here are some comments from existing members + some pics of Landscape Juicer Mick Gammage in action (this guy can lay!)

I thought I'd drop you a quick line to express my thanks to Marshalls for the help and support I have received since joining the Register some 3 years ago. All the guys whether it’s the girls in sales and admin or the field based team have been a pleasure to work with and I look forward to future success with the Marshalls brand.

Andy McKie, All Seasons Landscaping, Stockton on Tees

Since joining the Marshalls Register in 2005 we have seen big changes and witnessed the support for members grow, and as a result although a smaller scale our company has grown by using the tools available through Marshalls. It is a real privilege to be part of the Register.

Mark Aldrich, Probuild, Bedford

Just a quick note to say thank you for all that Marshalls have done for me over the last couple of years. As well as helping my business considerably it's a real pleasure being a part of the Marshalls "family". I think all the staff that I deal with at Marshalls are brilliant and so helpful I wish all other organisations that I deal with were half as good as you.

Neil Messer, Grand Designs, Hemel Hempstead

Being on the Marshalls Register makes us feel that we are under the Marshalls umbrella. We know that everybody we are in regular contact with is pleased to help in any way and give us their expertise. The ethos of the company shies through.

And a few more benefits too Dave :)

1..Peace of mind for clients with the Marshall's 10 year product guarantee (£50 per £5,000 contract value)
2..The usage of any photo and the Marshall's logo you can download and use on your website or for any sales literature or printing
3..Training courses for the installation of permeable paving, how to use the driveway visualiser and a sales training course (all FREE)
4..Cash back on all products purchased
5..Regional assessors at hand to contact for advice and help if required
6..Installer development manager to assist you with your business if required
7..Marshall's have been marketing heavily towards register members in 2011
8..The Marshall's awards, your installations can win regional certificates leading to the "Contractor of the year Award"
9..Installer contact details on the back page of the Marshall's brochure
10..Improvements to the register profiles giving us more credibility
11..Better delivery times on direct to site orders have been implemented this year, they was good before but they have made improvements
12..Member Site assessments, your regional assessor inspects your work on a regular basis
    13..Technical support
14..FREE samples, we can receive free samples to show the customer exactly what the colours of the paving will look like on their property

As far as I know there is nothing else available within the paving industry in the UK what offers this level of support and most importantly Marshall's supply the most premium of products on the market today, when you speak to any of the Marshall's staff they are always up beat, full of energy and enthusiastic and being a register member makes me part of that  winning team

We get all of this and more for only £300 +vat per year and in my opinion you cant afford not to be in it

The Marshall's brochure with register members contact details, it would cost a lot more than £300 to have the 4 boxes of brochures printed what i received this year

  • Nice one Mick - appreciate the support and kind words. Hope to see you at the Creating Landscapes show in a couple of weeks.....I'll be down there on the Wednesday.

  • The register has made a huge difference to my business and customers the levels of support across the board at Marshalls from the top down is excellent, the fee is negligible compared to the support you are given and services provided by Marshalls.

What an excellent way to communicate your message to Register and potential Register members. I really do hope other companies will take your lead an adopt the same approach.

What makes this thread all the more useful is the responses from existing Register members. The photos added my Mick and testimonies added by both Mick and Jason are so powerful.

Looking forward to meeting up with you at the show and talking through a few ideas.

    All best

I have received about the same amount of leads directly from Marshall's this year too Michael but i certainly don't think that my money has been wasted

I notice that you have not got your Marshalls register installer profile completed on the Marshalls web site as yours is showing a blank page, this gives you credibility when a customer is searching for a contractor in your area

I receive lots of phone calls throughout the year off customers saying they have got my details from Marshall's when in fact they did not contact Marshalls for my phone number but searched google for my company name and found my contact detail but the initial enquiry was started on the Marshalls web site. . . . . I know this is true as I always ask the customer how they found my details

have you contacted Justin your IDM or Glen your regional assessor, I think they cover Oldham where your based, they are both very helpful and I know for a fact they will try to rectify any genuine issues you have with the Marshalls register installer scheme

have you booked any of the courses available, try booking the sales course and then come back and post if it was not worth it....that course alone is worth a lot more than the "NOTHING EXTRA TO PAY" which is what Marshalls charge and all you have to do is give a day of your time

have you arranged for any site assessments to be carried out ?
theses are also a valuable tool for your portfolio when seeing a customer and give you credibility over and above other paving companies in your area

I am not posting any of the above as hype as I am not that type of person but It's no good sitting there moaning you have no work on waiting for your next free Marshall's enquiry to arrive you need to drive it forward with the tools made available to you by being a member in the Marshall's register installer scheme

anyway good luck with what ever you decide to do and hopefully I will meet you at the next Marshalls Roadshow

  • The registers been great for my business I would agree with Micks comments you still have to put the time in to use all the benefits but it is very worth while doing
  • Hi Michael,

Tried your mobile today but couldn't get through.

I have a few meetings planned for tomorrow so will try you again when I have a break.

    Cheers

    Dave

  • Hi Michael,

Good to catch up with you on the phone this afternoon, hopefully you are suitably reassured about the Register. The next time I'm out with Glenn we'll make a point of coming to see you.

Hope to catch up with you at the Register Road Shows in the New Year if I don't see you before - dates and venues to be annouced shortly

    Cheers

    Dave

Cordless hedge cutter

Looking for cordless hedge cutter with the motor at the battery/handle end and telescopic . Find the ones with the motor at the blade end unbalanced, and before anyone says it - no the battery does not counter balance it well.  Not bothered on brand.
