I imagine that you are all reading the headline and perhaps thinking that I have lost my marbles. Five pounds for my own website, how can this be when some commentators (OK website designers) are recommending spending up to £1000 on a landscaping or gardening website complete with fancy eye catching images. But it's true - you have already hooked up with your chosen network and have your little bit of unique space for free. Now you need to make it work and the best thing that you can ever do is lever the 'juice' that this site is producing by sending the relevant traffic to you. For example - you have joined the Landscape Juice Network and signed up with all of your personal and company information. The site has been optimised so that your information cannot be hidden from the various search engines and as the site grows and information by the way of blog posts, photo's and forum activity, is indexed to combine with other members 'juice' thus creating a hugely powerful resource. Now the clever bit because you do not want to have to administrate in two different places so you register your chosen domain name Joe Blogs Landscapes and have that domain pointed or forwarded to your own members page on the Landscape Juice Network. Domains are dirt cheap at the moment and if you buy from a reputable company such as Go Daddy in the United States, your pound will work very hard considering the dollar is so weak against the pound. The idea of a website is not what the front looks like, it is what powers the engine room and in this case, it is you. Upload your project photographs or examples of your designs or perhaps a plant that you have just pruned and combine it with a well written piece of accompanying text and your potential client will learn so much about you. As the main site grows and thousands and thousands of garden related key words are added, your company will climb higher up the the Google tree. Our network isn't just about creating friendships and associations for the benefit of you and other members, it is about creating a collective powerful resource that works in the background putting your business in front of many hundreds of thousands of potential clients. £1000 - you will have to work 66.66 hours at £15.00 per hour or one and a half weeks just to pay the bill. In these times when businesses are finding it hard enough just to pay their mortgages you need to been as keen as possible. Of course, if you already have an existing website, we produce the 'juice' so you get the benefit by having it sent to you from your page on the Landscape Juice Network site. I am going to cover this subject again with some more great tips shortly.

  • Thanks for the suggestion Philip. I was even chatting to a web designer this afternoon about making up a simple site. I'll look into doing as you suggest. Clive

    Hi Clive

This is the fantastic thing with the Ning platform. You can customise it to suit yourself.

If you do want to go down the designer route and spend that little bit extra then why not let him help you add some CSS code directly to your page on Landscape Juice?

That way you get the benefit of all the 'juice' this site is creating. Just register a domain name and have it pointed to your page.

    All the best

    Phil

Cordless hedge cutter

Looking for cordless hedge cutter with the motor at the battery/handle end and telescopic . Find the ones with the motor at the blade end unbalanced, and before anyone says it - no the battery does not counter balance it well.  Not bothered on brand.
