Can anyone help.  These little critters are damaging a friends Clematis, and Roses in Italy.  They have sprayed with Roseclear but to no avail.  To me they look like a type of aphid but hard to tell from the photos, so the Roseclear should of worked, so perhaps it's not an aphid?  Any ideas?

ahh brill thanks Duncan that definately looks like them. Will advise my Italian friend! Spent ages looking for similar pictures and found a few but didn't actually give the name. Thank you!

That's funny, they're actually called 'rose aphids', lol.

Dilute fairy liquid I might add, not neat!

They look like big aphids to me, Roseclear is rubbish, hit them with fairy liquid then wash it off of the plants with water after a few hours, that'll get them.
