Hi bayleaf agree with your comment I use a lot of boards and watter proof sheets to cover up any areas that I don't want a mess but even then it's still hard trying to get it perfect. I think most customers would prefer to have there lawn cut than left a extra week as it will look pritty bad and when your out in there garden working your backside off it shows you are commited to your business.
1 others advantage of working in bad weather is you don't fall behind as its a domino affect it affects most if not all your customers.

Looks like another on/off week with more rain, toruble is you can work in it, but everything takes longer and doesn't look as good afterwoods, mowings just a pain then you have to clean tools/equipment when you back home

A razer sharp blade on the mower helps out and I think if you mow a lawn every 2 weeks there will not be a grate deal of clippings and I would explaine the benefits of distributing the clippings back into the lawn to the customer as I find if u provide some knowledge And advice to the customer it gives them a better idea of gardening along with showing them that u know what your talking about. My out look is you have to work around some of the obstacles that affect your business and far 2 much people down tools 2 early (just my opinion )

If my mower would do the job in the wet I would work, been reading through some old forum posts to get an idea what to get, etesia 46 pro is looking favourite, but they are not cheap.

Hello Darren, A lot of us do work through the bad weather. not pleasant when it's p***ing down but can't afford not too in time or money.

Most of my gardens don't have weeds, so weeding is not a normal task, I don't think any of my customers woul be happy if I cut the grass and the mower didn't collect! On larger contracts you can get away without collecting, but I would never do it on a domestic lawn.

I understand but if the lawn has been regulars then a petrol fly mow will prevent tracks and not collecting is not a problem now and again. Your spot on with the mud in the rain but as for weeding there is not any issues . Apart from that everything can be done it might be harder or a bit longer to complete but my point way that 2 much people are not willing to work through the weather.

If it raining all day, the grass is just as wet as a 10 min torrential downpour, (it may dry out). When the grass is wet the mowers clog up, don't pick up, leave wheel tracks, try hoeing the borders resembles making a mud pie as a kid, should I go on?

I am up in Scotland and I am at per start up stage. I am working for a company at the moment and was wondering why garden maintenance company's feel the need to call it a day when it rains? If it was really heavy rain then I understand why they don't mow lawns but other than that i don't see a problem?
