Vectorworks Training Competition - win a day of training

Vectorworks Landmark, is the CAD software of choice for Landscape and Garden Designers, with tools for surveying, site analysis, designing hard landscaping and planting, contour modelling, rendering and much, much more.

The Vectorworks Training team, headed by, Tamsin Slatter, specialises in delivering high quality training and expertise to the landscape design world. All their trainers are qualified designers and use this expertise to help clients build a business process around this powerful software.
They offer a range of courses, from beginner through to the more advanced 3D site modelling skills.

Landscape Juice has teamed up with Vectorworks Training to offer this competition to LJN members to win a free place on one of our one day public courses. The competition ends at midnight on Friday 04 March 2011.

The winner will be entitled to one free day of training, at their training suite in Newbury, Berkshire. The course must be selected from our current training schedule (subject to availability) and must be taken before the end of June 2011. Courses run from 9:30 am to 16:30 and include a light lunch.

Our current schedule includes:

Vectorworks Foundation
Aimed very much at those totally new to the software, you will learn how to set up your “drawing board”, and learn how to use the basic drawing functions, to get yourself ready to make the most of the landscape specific features.

Vectorworks Landmark

For those who have mastered basic drawing skills, but would like to explore the more industry-focused tools within Landmark, we look at surveys, hard landscaping and planting plans.

Move to 3D
So, you can draw 2D plans, and have made use of the built-in Landmark features, but want to extend your knowledge of working in a 3D environment so that you can model more bespoke features.

Rendering and Lighting with Renderworks
Learn how to add light sources to the model to create accurate sun and shade studies, apply textures, apply backgrounds and create perspective camera views. Learn how to combine textures, lighting and 3D Image Prop plants to create stunning effects.

Site Modelling
Although this course does expect you to know your way around Vectorworks and have an understanding of the above, this course really is the icing on the cake! Learn how to plot heights from your own survey, or import information from your surveyor. We then create a model of the site, look at the site analysis possibilities and then learn how to adjust the site to suit your design, giving you a great visual for your client, contour plan for your contractor and those all-important cut and fill calculations.

How to enter

The rules of this give-away are simple; just leave a comment in the box below for your chance to win a day of training with Vectorworks Training - please just one comment per person (multiply or non relevant comments will be discounted).

The person chosen at random after the closing date will be the winner (draw will be made using random.org)

Once the draw has been done and the winner announced, you'll be contacted directly by Vectorworks Training to arrange a convenient time and date for your day.

Just spent the week demonstrating Vectorworks Landmark and Architect at Ecobuild 2011! Very well received demonstraions on site modelling for cut and fill calculations, and a fantastic rain garden design, completely modelled in 3D using Vectorworks.

I love Vectorworks, but I need more help, so a training day would be great.

My designs are all traditional paper based ones at present, I would love to do changes on the fly and be able t ament and email my designs to clients often far away, I would welcome the opportunity to advance my Vectorworks skills to enable me to do this. I am computer literate, but would like an initial kick start and pointig in the right direction.
