Funding for 670 women announced

A training grant worth £450 will be offered to 670 women working in male dominated environmental and land-based industries in England it was announced yesterday (10 March) at the first ever Women and Work Awards.



The new funding, which will see Lantra’s Women and Work programme in its fourth year, will continue to enable women in industries such as horticulture, landscaping and sports turf access funding for a variety of skills development activities.

Conkering a new career

For garden designer Penny Rushby-Smith family circumstances followed by the recession were the catalyst for a change in career. Through an innovative scheme called Forest Schools she’s been able to marry her love of the outdoors and working with children whilst also being awarded as the Women and Work Landscaping Learner of the Year.
