greenSKILL opportunities for green fingered workforce

Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for environmental and land-based industries, has announced that Leicester City Council has chosen to adopt greenSKILL: a skills assessment tool for the green space sector developed by Lantra in partnership with Greenspace.



Leicester City Council is the first local authority to offer their staff members working within the cities parks and green spaces, the opportunity to develop their skills against national standards.

£2,500 apprenticeship grants available for employers

Lantra Sector Skills Council is encouraging employers to seize a £2500 funding opportunity to take on a new apprentice, as their skills are celebrated during Apprenticeship Week (1-5 February 2010).



In a move to encourage more employers to take on an apprentice, the National Apprenticeship Service is now offering businesses in the environmental and land-based sector a £2500 grant they would be eligible for when they take on a 16 or 17 year old apprentice.

Spotlight on Apprenticeships

Inspirational land-based apprentices at Capel Manor College showcased their skills at the start of Apprenticeship Week when they were visited by Shadow Skills Minister, John Hayes MP.
