Niche communities are a strong business tool

I work with social media every single day.

Although I've had to make a conscious effort to remove myself from in front of the computer screen due to overload, even my weekends are spattered with a touch of social interactivity in some shape or form.

Even if I leave the house to go into town or partake in some other activity it's very rare I'm without my web enabled mobile (or should that be smartphone?).

Today's web and media savvy people (and that isn't just youngsters)…

How to Get the Most Out of Employee Evaluations

Many business owners dread giving out end-of-the-year employee performance evaluations – so much so that, oftentimes, employers will eschew the process all together. It’s easy to understand why – not only do some find it uncomfortable to have to rate another person’s level of adequacy (or perhaps, I should say, inadequacy), but many are fearful of being put in a compromising position. You know? The one in which your employees are gunning for more money and you’re forced to confront the…

What Does Your Website Say About You?

There’s no question. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, an online presence is not just a perk, it’s a necessity.

The majority of people turn to the web when they’re looking for a service in their area. Whether it’s a plumber, a cleaner or an electrician they’re after, interested customers know to scour the web for local businesses. It’s no…

Contributing to the Landscape Juice 'Honesty box'

I am sure you are well aware that running a site such as the Landscape Juice Network takes time and expense and at some stage, especially if the membership continues to rise at the rate it is, it will have to pay its way.

A number of experiments using affiliate links, Google adverts and donations have been tested but ultimately, the preference would be to keep the front page reserved for network related topics and selected postings and information.

Donation… Continue

Welcome to the Landscape Juice Network

Welcome to the Landscape Juice Network.

My name is Phil Voice and I have created this site to help professional gardeners, landscapers, designers, product manufacturers and suppliers [and also private gardeners and home owners] who might be looking for inspiration, help and advice.

At the core of the site lies a very powerful search engine friendly matrix, which means any content (and this gets stronger and stronger by the day) that you put up is being picked…

Promoting your Garden business on the Internet

Waking up very early on Christmas morning as a child I remember the massive feeling of anticipation as I fumbles with the pillow case in the pitch black.

My heart thumping and barely able to breath properly I searched for the light switch but at the same time trying to to wake my parents who were in the next room.

Every single small toy and packet of sweets, the apple and the orange were examined and loved for that split second as the secrecy turned into… Continue

Analogy of a succesful garden network

I want you to imagine a bicycle wheel with hub and spokes radiating out to an outer rim.

I now want you to imagine that wheel and try to imagine it as a map of our garden network with the open space beyond the rim as being the world wide web.

Gardening communities aren't just about belonging because it is the 'in thing'. The whole concept is about sharing knowledge and optimizing opportunity. To do that, the network has to be freely available and simple to… Continue

Garden and landscaping networks, community and passive interaction

Any casual or determined visitor to the Landscape Juice Network will wonder what the point of having a garden related site is if all of the details that are discussed here can be viewed by anyone at any time. One wonders if this might defeat the object of having a membership in the first place.

The internet is only just starting to break the surface of the many uses that it has been designed or evolved for.

There was at one time the perception that exclusive membership was… Continue

Unlimited bandwidth for your photos and videos

Why join a garden network and then pay for the privilege?

My opinion is, if you can take the trouble to join the Landscape Juice Garden Network and share your knowledge and experience, the least I can do is provide you with all of the tool to do the job for free.

So, my offer is, if you want to share your project photos and personal garden photos, the least I can do is make sure that I provide the right space for you to do it.

Any cost in the future will be… Continue

To be a 'Facebook' success, you have to remain proactive

I have just read an interesting story on New Media Age about the use of Facebook to launch an application for your company and surprisingly, not every well known brand is successful. I was also flabbergasted to read that "Applications rolled out by top brands such as MTV, Warner Bros and Woolworths were found to… Continue

Uploading a members photo

Thank you to Craig for his blog post about uploading photographs.

It would be cool if you considered adding a members photo too. It doesn't matter if you are a bit shy, add a picture of a project or a company logo, it matters not. And, remember, am about most of the time so if you need any help, just shout.
