ASTER-LA-VISTA

Oh it's been a lovely afternoon, with a bit of late summer sun and to the garden-I-will-go. Those asters have been bugging me. Don't ask me how (they weren't there last year)  but they came up in the very front of a raised border so that look very awkward towering above the otherwise rather lovely foliage plants in that bed. Will a garden designer source plants for my new garden?

I am often asked this question and I suppose the response will be different depending on the company you approach.

Lately I seem to have an increasing number of requests to 'endorse' products. I am assuming this is because of the success of the Greenfingers Guides books. It also doesn't seem to hurt I have a minor celebrity.

Yes I can see that getting individuals like myself writing ( via blogs, magazines, books etc.) about  a company's…

September - a busy month!

September is proving to be the busiest month yet for Dan Frazer Gardening. It seems that people around Glasgow are very proud of their lawns and want cutting, scarifying, moss and weed treatment and all sorts of other work done to keep them looking perfect. The website has had a lot of hits and our autumn services are in great demand.

GARDEN MAINTENANCE AND THE RIGHT GARDENER IS IMPORTANT

We all know garden maintenance can just comprise some uninformed bloke/woman strimming the living daylights out of a garden, without any real knowledge of the profession So I was just wondering what you all felt about this tricky mix and match exercise of finding a gardener to a client?

Fair enough if the client has an existing resident gardener/ gardeners to look after a newly created…

I am a Gloveless Gardener...

It's not that I don't have or ever use any garden Gloves, it's just that most of the time I choose not to wear them...

Simply because, I like to Feel what I'm doing !!!

I want to know that the Soil has the correct texture, the roots of the planted are anchored, the tulip bulb is nice and firm as I bury it in its spot.

The importance of history.

I have been looking round locally with the intention of taking evening classes to gain a history A level. There doesn’t seem to be any available, anywhere, no one seems to be running them. Has history gone out of fashion, is there a lack of interest or is it just a lack of funds?

I know history seems a bit of an odd choice of subject for someone who works with his hands but I work with history all the time. The anvils I use are probably over a hundred years old, one that I own…
