Are our urban & suburban soils destroyed beyond the point of repair?

The continued disproportionate rise in our urban / peri-urban or suburban population against a rural population and the infrastructure that it requires equals the largest threat to present & future sustainability due to the continuing heavy abuse of soils.

Public sector redundancies ‘cancel out’ private sector recovery

Redundancies in the public sector are cancelling out job recovery in the private sector, according to new figures from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG.

The Labour Market Outlook, the net employment index, shows that large-scale public sector job losses are overwhelming the slight rise in private sector recruitment. More than half of public sector organisations are planning redundancies in the second quarter of 2011.

Wild in the City Hampton court 2011

I have a day off from the build that is taking part at Hampton court this year.

The garden I am building has been designed by Charlotte Murrell and is called Wild in the City.

It features a log wall that runs along the back of the garden and down one side, made from individual cut logs all at 200mil in length. These will be placed in position like a dry stone wall. The garden itself contains a wildlife pond and a circular oak deck and plenty of wildlife friendly plants. It will…

Making the most of an unused garden space.

We're now well into the final stages of our current garden design and build project. The final part includes implementing a design we created to make the most of a wasted area at the side of our clients house. the brief included creating an intimate area for seating to incorporate a new wood burner and areas for planting.

With the design agreed we set about clearing the space and starting to take the design from paper to garden.

The importance of professional lawn mowing services for lawns in the Spalding area...

Everyone wants their lawn to look its best. Freshly cut and looking lush and green is most peoples image of a perfect lawn.

However not everyone has the time, expertise or machinery to ensure that their lawn looks like this!

A blunt, four wheeled rotary mower with insufficent power, used to cut the grass at irregular intervals will NEVER leave an acceptable result.

If you simply don't have the time or equipment to care for your lawn as much as…
