Now We Are Five

We made it - Lush Landscape & Garden Design is 5 years old.

Here's a little article reflecting on setting up a garden design business at the start of a downturn:

Scrollable panorama app for portfolios

We've just tried out an App for iPhone which creates seamless 360 degree panoramic images, and I thought I'd pass on the info. Called DMD Panorama, by Dermandar, it is simple to use, produces great results, and is FREE to download for a limited time. (Note I don't have any links to the company - I just like the software.)

Here's an example of one of our gardens, taken this afternoon:…

Designer plans for cheaper gardens

Posted on October 9, 2011 at 16:03 0 Comments

East midlands garden design firm Lush Landscape & Garden Design have launched a brand new service, providing home owners with bespoke garden design plans at credit-crunch friendly prices.

"With the housing market uncertain and interest rates low, many homeowners are doing up, rather than selling up,"  explains Lush Landscape & Garden Design managing director Anna Barker. "As a result we've seen a large upturn in demand for garden plans this year."

Our latest garden, finished yesterday, was a challenge - taming an 18% uphill slope to provide a family garden with lawn, planting, seating area and greenhouse space.

Not only did we manage it, but I got to dust off my Sketchup skills to wow the client with (and they really did say 'Wow!').

What age are your children? Both of mine went to Sharnbrook also......i have a 21yr daughter and a 19yr old son.
Nick is still at Pod and as helpful and friendly as ever! When i first started gardening for a living i was working for Timotay Landscapes, who were the company that Pod used when customers requested a design or build. Does Anna remember them?

I did a RHS general cert at Moulton while i was with Timotay, which was about 2000. And went back to Moulton & started the design foundation degree, P/T in 2006. But I only did the first term and a bit after Christmas....... really struggled with the quantity of work and got very behind! But really enjoyed what i had done on the course.

How did Anna find the course? I did find if difficult to stay awake and concentrate in a warm lab after
lunch!!

I have only just done my first full design, with 2 builder friends, who do the hard stuff-they prefer landscaping to general building and have been doing it for years.
We work really well together, as the 3 of us can cover the skills needed and are working on another design.
So have just taken the exciting step of having a website done, and van signs made!!

I do maintenance and planting too. So just hoping to build up design side more.
While i was studying at Moulton I did a design with my best friend for her dad in Olney. She teaches

Hi Keith Thanks for message - so you know Clapham .............. I moved here 10 years ago when I returned from the Algarve having lived there for 13 years . I know you think I was mad but had to when my marriage went pear shaped .... needed to get kids into schools so stayed with my sister in Oakley till found place in Clapham . Been here ever since - kids have done well - one at uni other in 6th form and leaves in Summer. Started business 9 years ago and still going strong tho like everyone else been tougher last year with not so many new enquiries . Still I have a hard core of regulars ( just as well ) which are my bread & butter - some I've kept since starting out ! Anyway I have enough work now as being semi retired am being more selective - hard as I am another who finds it hard to say *No*
Anyway hope all is going well with you and you have a good season

Cheers
