About your business
Core Landscapes carries out landscape management and maintenance work, covering Ayrshire and Strathclyde regions. We primarily focus our efforts on year-round grounds maintenance work for domestic, commercial and industrial clients but also regularly carry out landscape projects. In order for us to carry out these projects to the highest standards and to the clients time-scale we also hold a close network of sub-contractors who carry out specialist areas of our jobs. Core Landcapes also carry out rural woodland and estate services to landowners so as to look after the needs of their wider landscape and the surrounding rural environs.

We are fully insured and are SEPA licensed waste carriers so can remove all green waste from our sites to licensed waste recycling plants. Where necessary we can use pesticides to control the invasion of specific weeds on customers land - where possible, though, we will use more environmentally friendly methods.

Where did you hear about Landscape Juice
stumbled upon it a while ago now
Location
Ayr

Rain incites a trip to Etesia dealer.

With the sunshine yesterday I literally worked until it was so dark I couldn't see the lines in the grass...then today. Yes, you guessed it the rain and gales. Weather warnings from the met office. Work rescheduled for thursday.

Positive steps though. My local JD dealer doesn't have the machine I want in stock so taking a trip up to my nearest etesia dealer to have a chat and see if I can get a demo of a new machine up there in East Kilbride. £2000 is a lot to spend without a wee shot... and this is the perfect day for it!!

After all, what the dickens is the sense in having 2 machines sitting in my van that I can't use every time it rains??

Hi Neil,
Sorry I have only just spotted this message, I did not realise that I had a comments section on My Page.
I cannot remember at the moment the name of the fencing, as I lost quite a few files on the computer a while back, but I will be seeing the client soon, and he may remember, as he had a fair amount of imput on the choice.
Regards John

What do you think? Just had website put together for me by david at embryodigital and would like to hear what you think. Be aware I haven't had time yet to correct some of the detail (my very-little-to-do-with-the-business wife briefly threw some details at him to load on) so not 100% yet.

Many thanks in anticiption.

Thanks for your comments;

we are basically a cooperative, we have a plantsman, a stonewaller, a pond man, an environmental engineer, a retired professor of landscape and heritage issues who does consultation, 3 general landscapers and myself, a silviculturalist - I actually worked in Scotland, Argyll for many years, before moving to Cornwall and onto France where I manage the company, remotely with Shane Kneebone who is based in Cornwall.
We have found that keeping it as a cooperative so that everyone still has their own company is favourable to the client, ie cheaper. Combined with the ';sustainable' approach it has resulted in a very safe business model which is starting to be copied. We are not competition for other bigger branded firms, although we dominate the google seo for Cornwall, because we do not touch commercial contracts, save 'consultation', which is mainly direct to Government and Europe based companies.
The biggest problem has been in charging efficiently it is all too easy to waive payments etc.,. to chase a contract which appeals - I would be happy to help in anyway with any questions you may have. But certainly in the short time we have been on this site we have found it very useful indeed.
Hope this helps. I presume you can see Kintyre on a good day, I used to live there and miss it, beautiful part of the world.

Hi Neil

Thank you for the feedback.

This is the third time (that I know of) that this has happened in the last month.

I will look into this later today and contact Ning.

Could you just confirm for that you didn't click the little grey square with a white cross to close the post?

I have just had a brainwave as I went to look into the 'events' section of the site. Once we get enough members built up in Scotland why don't we get Phil to organise some LJ events to liase and drink wine together at!

I am considering changing direction and location of my business and wonder what your thoughts are. An oppertunity has arisen to move into taking on larger scale private landscape projects. I am investigating the extent to which the 'hands-off' project-management-only side of things would work - i.e. liasing, brainstorming, commissioning the design work, sub-contracting the construction and seeing the project through in and oversight/managment position.

Does this only work if you are a registered landscape architect or is it feasible with the right savvy?? I have some great contacts and know people who know people and have been offered the chance to do a fantastic project which would be showcased on a fairly grand scale to prospective clients but have been out of this loop for a while and so am just, at this stage, looking for views...

If I am being vague question me as you please!
