About your business
Eco Garden Maintenance have been involved in the horticultural industry for 20 years and are fully trained in all aspects of horticulture, application of pesticides, use of machinery, lawn care and tree surgery. We provide garden and landscape maintenance services to private and commercial clients in the Leeds, York, Selby, Wetherby, Tadcaster and Sherburn in Elmet areas.

The services we provide are;

Eco garden maintenance takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously. We try and work with nature and wildlife where possible. Part of our eco friendly policy is the use of Pellenc battery powered tools. These tools are at the cutting edge of technology and much better for the environment than their petrol powered equivalents. The benefits include zero emissions at point of use, much less noise pollution and increased productivity. One charge of the battery can last a whole day in the garden.

We try to use organic fertilsers on lawns and plants where possible. Weedkillers are used when there is no other option or other options are too costly. We try to promote composting as a way of dealing with garden waste which benefits the garden in so many ways. The use of a powerful shredder enables this to be achieved.

The regular addition of organic matter is an important part of our strategy, providing benefits such as slow release nutrients, improved soil structure, reduced compaction, increased moisture retention, improved workability of clay soils, weed suppression and the control of soil pests and diseases.

Grass cutting and lawn mowing by Eco Garden Maintenence in the Leeds, York, Selby, Tadcaster and Wetherby areas.

Posted on March 25, 2013 at 10:30 2 Comments

Grass cutting can be a daunting task for many who either don't have the time or suitable machinery. Few home owners can justify spending large amounts of money on professional quality mowers and clients in the commercial sector usually don't have the resources to have grounds maintenance done in-house.

In these situations it would make sense to employ the services of a professional company such as Eco Garden…

Using Comfrey in the garden by Eco Garden Maintenance

Posted on March 18, 2013 at 11:30 1 Comment

Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)has long been used in the garden mainly for it's use as an organic fertiliser. The properties of this "wonder plant" are well known to the older generation of gardeners and growers as well as those interested in organic growing. However it's popularity has decreased over the years with main stream gardening as synthetic oil based fertilisers became the norm and were relatively cheap to produce and easy to apply. With the ever increasing price of oil, it's finite…

Stuart – totally agree with your last comment on the shock horror thread... re the camera – I got a fuji finepix J10 for £80 which also does 25min of video.. but there's a constant hiss on the sound – so I looked into dedicated camcorders and I'm sure I read, sounds poor on em all till you get into the several hundreds – shame really – I wanted to film the sky with skylarks and stick it up on the tune of the day thread :-)
