"Good advice John. One way to remove them (as advised by my partner) is to put a drop or 2 of tea tree oil on them. Tea tree oil is also great as an anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and basically kills ticks/flees etc., on humans…"

Pond related question

Hi allI have just cleaned out the pond in my garden, it is only a wee little thing, no pump, no fish (a few toads/frogs on occasion) and no plants except the few growing round the edges. It has been left by various tenants (including me) for several years. I decided it was time to clean it out as it was very murky and the bottom was covered in around 4 inches of sludge. What can I do with the sludge? Is it any good as fertiliser? I prefer to recycle/reuse where possible.Should I refill with…See More

Thanks for your comment on my allotment piece Paul – good to hear you wanting to be organic (hate that word) it's a conscience thing with me... I trust you have or are getting on top of the couch grass – we managed it with some patience and then regular vigilance – we still get odd bits of bindweed that I lift carefully to hopefully get the whole root. At nearly all our jobs we have to cope with gardens created by builders – so we love our allotment.. and the asparagus is just popping up:-)
