"Hi Linda Definitely not Amelanchier. Spindly branches have a tendency to snap and growth can be very one-sided and sparse.  Crataegus is your safest bet. James"

Most wind tolerant flowering trees?

Hi all I wouldn't normally specify a flowering tree for a windy spot, but my client would really like one, so just wondering if any of you have seen examples of trees that might do the job?It's not SUPER windy, but the wind whips round the side of the house just there, from the west, and might be salty ocasionally. Dear all I am designing a small garden with a drainage problem. It's the BACK garden of a new build property, but htis is a bigger problem that the usual soggy lawn where turf has just been laid on compacted rubbish.So, it will need draining. Can I specify to lay drains taking the water to the existing drains? Or must it be a soakaway??
