Agree with Stuart and definitely 100mm min concrete footing on compacted sub soil. Would increase footing to 2 X edging dimension to allow for adequate haunch. Point bricks 1:3 mix .

Using a string line, for the circle, dig out a 150mms x 100mm footing for each circle. Then using a concrete mix, lay a footing of 100mm plus rom for the brick on a bed of 4:1 mortar. If you use MOT compacted, it will move, the bricks will move and…

Hi there You need to use your maths - work out your circle circumference by equation; circumf = 2x radius x pie (couldn't find the symbol 3.144444 etc) so 4m circumference would be 12.56m then divide that by your brick length will give you the amou…

Should have added provided they were laid end to end.

What Stephen says is true and good advice. What way are you planning on laying the bricks? I have attached a crappy paint image to show what I mean.

If circles are 4m in diameter you will need 84 bricks per circle, would just put a base of cement round the circumference, personally wouldn't compact area within circle with wacker plate would just compress with feet & take soil /turf up to brick h…

Hi Jim

Do you believe in coincidences?

I was chatting with Richard Loader on Skype and was explaining that whilst out on my walk my young dog started playing with a large mole that had come to the surface. I watched it tunnel for a few minyes as it tried to escape - really fascinating.

I had foolishly left my house without a camera so I popped back but alas and quite expectedly, it was nowhere to be seen when I came back.

Richard explained how valuable a shot of a mole exiting a mole hill would be and as we spoke, I clicked onto LJN to check activity and you changed your image to the mole.
