"Hi Jessica Sounds as if you will be doing the garden and the property a power of good! Some gardens are listed but normally the owners will know as it can be a reason to buy the house in the first place. They will be very proud of it! As regards…"

Hi Jess

I have filled in one swimming pool in Selborne before and I am uncertain, from memory, if permission was needed.

What I would say though is make sure that you completely break up the structure so that any future water can permeate away.

I suppose the question of removing all of the concrete (assuming it is a reinforced concrete base and sides) is a question of ethics over cost.

Our brief at the time was to break up the pool so that drainage was not an issue and then fill on the remainder with top soil.

Luckily for us the builders of our pool had excavated the soil and landscaped the mounds to help shelter the pool. We used this as infill and provided a little extra top soil and then seeded over the area.

I will keep my ear to the ground and maybe someone else can help if they have experience.

When are you carrying out the work?

Kind regards

Phil

I cut all curves to the paving with my own fair hands. A radii was scribed from a center point on the slabs dry laid. the slabs where then lifted for cutting with a 9" diamond disc in a series of strait cuts as close to the curve as possible. The remaining few millimeters was taken back with a 4 " flat grinding disc. Very Messy!
