"Thanks for the comments guys! Think im going to keep my two Hayters until the end of the season and then replace them next year with something that can cope with all conditions.  I didnt even attempt to use them in todays weather!!"

"i have to say about tweeking engine speed, that this sometimes has zero effect on collection as some mowers are already at the limmit on the rpm for which the blade will create the maximum suction and air flow force after that your just getting…"

"i generally use a blower on grass that has some moisture showing, walk away for about 15 minutes to half an hour then cut - no problem. i wouldnt cut wet grass. Kevin www.gardencoaching.blogspot.com"

"In clearing cut grass to the box, Air flow is key - its helped by 1/ design, 2/speed, 3/air flow or lift (ie blade), 4/ aire exit route. You can tweek so many of those variables... - increasing engine (hence blade) speed ;-) - using high lift blades…"
