Hello Giant Even though this border has a southerly aspect, I would imagine when the two trees come into leaf there will be a fair amount of shade cast. Try to go for bomb proof plants that are hard to kill. What plant where by Roy Lancaster is a bo…

The grass in the foreground looks like Hordeum jubatum The blue salvia, Salvia x silvestris may night is my guess and the achillea with the silvery sheen to the foliage would suggest moonshine

Nice job Stuart I noticed the chap spreading the bonded gravel was not wearing a vapour mask, the last time I did that things started to get a little psychedelic, if you catch my drift. Here's a small area I did at the end of last year, in a block…

I used http://www.westkingtonnurseries.co.uk last year and was pleased with the sevice and the plants supplied. They are based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, I was charged £65.00 for delivery, but that was to Derbyshire They stock a very wide range of pl…

I agree with Philip, best to start over. If the wall is damp I would prime the background with SBR bonding agent, PVA is not so great in damp conditions. also add a waterproofer to your scratch coat.

Your thumb may not be green, but I bet your fingers are. The clue is in your post, success with potted plants but some failures in the ground. When you grow a plant in a pot chances are you are growing it in lovely fresh compost, maybe with some slo…

Hello dgeorgea Could you maybe coat the balconies with an acrylic sealant, the type used on block paving and patios. Acrylic sealants have come a long way in resent times and with only foot traffic I would imagine a ten year lifespan at least. Seala…

John Can you not build the steps with concrete blocks. In effect building 4 interlocking boxes of decreasing height on foundations, fill voids with mot type 1 then top off with York stone on mortar beds.

Hi Gareth,
Thank you for comment on wrought iron gate. This is being shown at the North Somerset show tomorrow alongside b'smithing demos and competitions. Nathan always pleased when I report feedback. He's a bit of a caveman and hates computers but he is considering getting to grips with the internet soon as even his business contacts are preferring to communicate or show info online. Hope to get him on here at that point.
Good luck on LJ
Helen
