I suppose I'm quite lucky out here in the sticks - most of my clientele are retired people so have the money set aside for upkeep and improvements. My biggest problem is I'm so busy on the maintenance side, I don't have time to concentrate on increasing the design side's business, and that's what I trained for!!! Have you seen the lead for the paving job in Chatham? Very kind of Stuart to pass it on. Just a little bit further than I wanna travel I think. Am going to speak to hubby and see if he wants to go and see it. Might even see you there!!
The moonlighters and pensioners do provide a service, and are good for people who don't want to pay professional fees, meaning we don't have to haggle our prices down. My mum even employs an old boy cos she says she'd never pay my prices!!! Suits me, she's exactly the sort of client I try to avoid!!
Keep on truckin my friend- we have the best job in the world!! And the tan's coming on beautifully!!
My work is all maintenance at moment I have not got any design work last design work I had was two years ago. The problem is that around Sittingbourne Chatham they will not pay to have it done. With the maintenance there are a lot of people moonlighting or pensioners doing it for beer money. I advertise in two Parish mags and free line in yellow pages.
