I'm a Chelsea-award winning garden designer but with three young children I now spend most of my time writing about children and gardening - my pet topic - as well as developing my own garden in Cambridgeshire.
Welcome - I only joined a week ago and already I find it mildly addictive (the forum that is!).
I can empathise with your work/nurture situation as I also have 3 children - two 4 year old boys, Olly and Theo (non-identical twins!) and a 9 year old girl, Amelia, who has Downs. My wife has her own business so as you can imagine we have a lot of juggling to do - luckily I have a priceless mother-in-law who is a million miles from the stereotype!
Still working on getting the little ones interested in gardening - at the moment worms and other 'critters' provide a small spark of interest - but I don't want to force it on them. Amelia is a great help and will try her damndest to come to work with me every day - she sees the dogs jump in the car and thinks she can come as well!
Anyway - enjoy the forum.... J

Thanks for the compliment Dawn - although I spend more time designing/project managing, my true love is plants and planting. Whenever we get to the stage of planting up projects I get like a kid in a sweet shop!
The shots of the Iris are actually in my garden - one of my favourites but not something I use a lot in clients gardens because they are so fleeting - and a bit untidy for the other 10 months of the year!
I passed the pre school site mentioned in your blog today - I used to live in Hail Weston and my parents are still there - small world! Are you sure your measurements are right, it looks smaller than 3 x 3.5m!
I have a few new sleepers and pointed posts left over from previous jobs if they are any good for the project. I feel a small donation to my previous home village might redeem me from terrorising the locals all those years ago.
Also, if you eveer need a landscaper we are now offering our services to other designers. Being based near Royston, we cover East Anglia and North London.
Yes, they're still available. I think they are only 900mm long but I willl measure one tomorrow and let you know the dimensions. Let me know how many you require and we'll go from there.
Did you get my message the other day? I can't seem to find any record of it. Anyway it read along the lines of 'you can be cheeky and 12's fine. When would you want them?

Thank you for joining us. I hope that you enjoy being here and find the site useful (if you get the time with three children that is).
Kind regards
