Hi Carl

I was thinking about creating a set of steps using the method you have here.
I see there's a fair bit of stone extending out from the wall face.

Is there any danger of the stone snapping adjacent to the wall if too heavy a weight is placed on the tread?

I'm guessing but the treads look to be about 40mm thick?
