Abandoned crofters' cottage

I saw many abandoned stone cottages, similar to this on.

Looking at the terrain as well as the disparity of the villages and houses I guess there's little opportunity to earn a living in such a remote area.

It was a blustery day or strong sunshine and heavy showers Bridgitt. This photo was taken just 5 miles from John O'Groats and it's a fairly exposed area.
