Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Scheme

For anyone who hasn't yet input their views - a reminder, please, to have your say on the proposed SGD CPD scheme.  The details are on the SGD website here (you'll need to sign in to get there), and you can respond either by emailing Steve White (stephenjwhite@mail.com) or by adding to the SGD forum thread "Proposed CPD Scheme for the Society" on the Members Forum.

As a professional running my own business CPD is a crucial part of my business plan. I don't think you will find many people who would disagreee with that. What I think you may have a problem with is asking people to fill in bits of paper or online forms.

A CPD scheme is a major step forward for the SGD. I'm delighted that it looks like becoming a reality. The main problem will be the policing of it - who will do the policing and who will pay for it? Increases in subs will not go down well, I'm sure.

Apologies for the late reply, I have just stumbled across this discussion. Not sure if it is of interest but we have just completed a "cpd" type event for 10 of the SGD members here in the North East.

Feedback was all very positive and I think they would agree that this is something they would like to do again.

The organising member for this event was Helen Voisey and I imagine she would have something to add on this topic.

Following our event last week I am in discussion with Helen on how to roll out our sessions to all the SGD members for each region. If you have any ideas I would welcome the chat.
